The words, ideas and story remain entirely yours; the editor's role is to bring an objective, experienced perspective to the manuscript, identifying weaknesses, refining what works and helping to shape the novel into its strongest possible form.

A manuscript assessment provides a high-level, considered evaluation of your story, focusing on the overall shape, structure and effectiveness of the narrative. Your assessment will outline the manuscript's key strengths and weaknesses with practical recommendations for your next steps. Where appropriate, I can advise of the submission process.
A development edit offers a comprehensive evaluation of your entire manuscript, including structure, plot, pacing and character development. You'll receive a detailed editorial report, together with a marked-up manuscript highlighting key areas from the report and practical opportunities for development. It will identify what's working, where the manuscript can be strengthened and the most effective ways to develop your story both creatively and commercially, giving you a clear, considered direction for the next stage of your draft.
A line edit is a detailed, sentence-level edit designed to refine your manuscript and bring your writing to its strongest possible form, whether you're preparing to pitch to agents or move towards publication. Working sensitively with your voice and style, a line edit will refine language, clarity and flow, while also checking continuity, dialogue and consistency throughout. This edit will be completed using Track Changes, allowing you to review, consider and approve every suggested change.
